No two organisations are the same, so it’s risky to generalise. But we do believe that people will be less likely to look into their stationery costs than some other overheads, simply because of the sheer numbers of decision makers or budget holders and the long list of suppliers. It just makes the job so taxing!

Add to that the fact that a paperclip is a paperclip; rubber gloves are rubber gloves etc. In short, these are areas in which people are less ‘emotionally involved’ and therefore do not often look into changing suppliers or reducing their costs.

So we were very happy when we managed to save one school £42, 857 on their annual stationery bill. It showed that stationery is definitely worth a cost reduction project.
